Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR)

QPR (Question, Persuade, & Refer) is a program that works by teaching participants skills they can use when someone is experiencing a potential mental health crisis. Just like CPR, QPR is an emergency response to someone in crisis and can save lives. It is the most widely taught Gatekeeper Training in the world.

We specialize in providing QPR gatekeeper and instructor certification courses within high-stakes industries, such as healthcare, higher education, athletics, and construction. Gatekeeper courses can be taught as a standalone QPR certification or with additional information that is tailored to each audience. Continuing education credits available for several disciplines, including but not limited to athletic trainers and EMTs.

QPR Gatekeeper Training Courses

Upon successful completion of any QPR course, participants are certified QPR gatekeepers for one year.

Courses can be a standalone QPR gatekeeper certification course (60 or 120 minutes) or offered with additional mental health information (additional 60 to 90 minutes) tailored to your group.

Prices start at $350 for a 60-minute QPR gatekeeper course.

QPR Gatekeeper Training for Trainers Courses

Becoming a Certified QPR Trainer allows you to offer your own QPR Gatekeeper Certification Courses. It is an excellent way to help empower those you serve to effectively respond to mental health emergencies, including suicide.

This is a full-day training course with Dr. Erin Haugen and is offered virtually or in-person. Upon completion, you will be a Certified QPR Gatekeeper Trainer for 3 years.

Yes! QPR courses can be given entirely online, so you can complete them from the comfort of your own home or within your work environment.
Yes! We are happy to provide in-person instruction for no additional fee in the Grand Forks, ND area. Outside of that area, additional charges apply. Contact us to discuss details!
Unfortunately, no. The courses are highly interactive. We also want to create and maintain safety for participants. Therefore, we cannot record the instructor-led portion for later viewing.
We do have a number of on-demand courses related to mental health that you are welcome to purchase.
Unfortunately, no. HPC offers these courses for adult participants pnly (ages 18+).
Yes, we offer CE credits for specific courses offered to medical and mental health professionals. Each course registration page will indicate if it is offered for CE credit. We partner with ATAGF for our CE courses, and they are an approved CE provider for the BOC, NDBSWE, and NDBACE.
You should take the QPR Gatekeeper Trainer Certification Course, as that will allow you to instruct your own QPR Gatekeeper Training Courses.
The standard QPR Gatekeeper Training course trains people to be gatekeepers (i.e., learn how to effectively respond during a mental health emergency) and does not train them to offer their own courses.
